About Atlas Forensic Psychiatry
Our Mission
At Atlas Forensic Psychiatry, we are dedicated to advancing justice and public safety through expert forensic psychiatric services, education, and mentorship. We provide rigorous, evidence-based evaluations and treatment across clinical, legal, and correctional settings; educate institutions and professional communities; and guide the next generation of forensic mental health professionals.
Dr. Adam Bernstein, MD
Dr. Adam Bernstein has extensive experience in both adult general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Dr. Bernstein earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2019. After, he completed his psychiatry residency at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center (New York State Office of Mental Health) in a collaborative program with Columbia University, where he was also trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Following residency, Dr. Bernstein furthered his education and training at SUNY Upstate Medical University in a collaborative program with Central New York Psychiatric Center (New York State Office of Mental Health). After completing fellowship, Dr. Bernstein was named Assistant Director of the Division of Forensic Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University as well as Assistant Fellowship Program Director of the forensic psychiatry fellowship program where he trained. Clinically, Dr. Bernstein was named Clinical Director at Auburn Correctional Facility, one of the oldest maximum-security prisons in the country where he treats and oversees the care of hundreds of incarcerated individuals with mental illness. Dr. Bernstein has a passion for psychiatry that displays itself in his various publications in prominent journals, his involvement in both state and national professional organizations and committees, and his eagerness to teach and mentor those who seek to enter the field.
